Madhav Haridas Quartet

Madhav’s new project started on September 2023 from the
meeting with the genius guitarist Omri Porat.

This new project is the outcome of Madhav musical search through
all his life and came from his desire to find his own musical identity.
Through original compositions based on indian scales,
this project is a new kind of fusion between Indian, Spiritual Jazz and World music.

Accompanied by incredible musicians,
this show is a musical and spiritual journey through Madhav’s own soul

Omri Porat : acoustic and electric guitar

Omri Porat, son of conductor and composer Roni Porat, was appropriately raised in a very musical household from an early age, mainly playing jazz guitar and upright bass. Following his high school studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, he then started to independently explore traditional Flamenco music in Granada, Spain, leading him to then further expand his musical horizons towards traditional Eastern music.
Upon returning to Israel, he continued his studies of Andalusian and Persian music with renowned musicians Elad Levi and Peretz Eliyahu, respectively. His most recent trip to India involved classical Indian music from Sitar Master Anand Mishra, adding to his growing arsenal of instruments such as the Oud and Sarod.

Mark Moshayev : drums

Born in 1984. graduated from the Thelma Yelin School of the Arts. In his youth, he studied classical music with Professor Alon Bor and performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He regularly won scholarships from the Sharet Fund and the Ronen Fund.
He played in various jazz ensembles with the best artists in Israel such as Yuval Cohen, Avishai Cohen, Anat Cohen, Omer Avital, Eli Dejibri and Daniel Zamir. Continuing his journey and his musical exploration, he went to study music in Cuba and tabla studies in India with Ustad Sabir Khan.
Mark has developed a unique musical language on the drum set that combines elements of western classical music, jazz and Indian music. He passes on the extensive knowledge he acquired in master classes and in recent years collaborates with the percussionist Zohar Fresco, with whom he performs in Israel and around the world.

David Michaeli : double bass

David Michaeli started his professional career as a double bass player at the age of 15 with Eli Degibri’s young talents super-group and received a Sharett Grant from The America-Israel Cultural Foundation. He is a graduate of The Cross-Disciplinary Instrumental Department of The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and the Shtriker-New School Program at the Israel Conservatory of Music, Tel Aviv.
Concurrent with his Jazz expertise, Michaeli has studied classical Arabic music with Hagai Bilitzky at The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and classical Indian music on Bansuri with Nilesh Deshpande, Puna, India. Throughout his musical career, Michaeli has played, toured and recorded worldwide with Israel’s preeminent musicians and bands as an acclaimed saxophonist– including Abatte Barihun; Dudi Levi; Anat Fort; Bint El Funk; Katamon Cherry among others. In 2016 he joined the group, Shalosh and has since been a contributing, creative member.

Madhav Haridas : bansuri, alto & soprano saxophone
 

Madhav has earned his reputation as a talented musician and skillful performer with his distinct and authentic musical style.

 

French jazz saxophone player, he lived in India for more than 15 years where he studied North and South Indian classical music and started playing intensively the bansuri (Indian bamboo flute).

 

His original music is the result of his spiritual evolution following his life journey, and build bridges between the musical spheres of India, Middle East, Balkan, Afro and Jazz
